Our two year old male will jump behind (1) a pile of sofa pillows, (2) the TV amoire – he jumps up into it and works behind the tv, and jumps to the floor behind it. Then he just cries until we find him or rescue him. Sometimes he will go right back after being rescued. Once in a while the other cat will do the task for us. (?) The 8 month old male has jumped into the fridge before. We heard the muffled cries and ran around like nuts trying to find him, but couldn’t after a frantic search. The crying was on and off, so we retraced since we last saw him – which was while making a quick snack in the kitchen. Just as we began searching cabinets and closets, we heard a cry and some items falling from inside the fridge. Apparently, as we just closed the fridge door behind us, we failed to notice he had jumped up onto one of the shelves! He had himself hung up between a shelf in the fridge and a rack on the door. He still tries to get back in there. Go figure. — MBankaT

Go figure. — MBankaT

Sounds like Oscar! He even tries to crawl into *kleenex boxes*! He gets his face and one paw in and then stands there trying to figure out how he’s going to fit the rest of himself in.

I don’t *let* my cat hang out in the fridge with the door closed. I don’t let him hang out in there at all, actually. He just tries. Laura — One man’s mundane and boring existence is another man’s Technicolor. -Tick, Strange Days

One thing to remember is a cat’s lungs are smaller, so they dont need as much air as a human.

Oh, there’s lots of air, actually. Apparently some cats just don’t notice the coldness (including my dingdong). He likes to (try to) crawl in and see what’s there to hide behind. He’s a bit odd. Laura — One man’s mundane and boring existence is another man’s Technicolor. -Tick, Strange Days

Ruger does that with the fridge, he jumps in, wont come out so I close the door for a second and he cries like mad! Heh, when I open the door though he still wont come out!! He likes it in there, he just wants to be able to leave when he wants… sounds like what your cat is doing. You could try blocking it off, or pushing the dryer to the side if you can so she can get out on her own. -Sofia

A cat in the fridge. I can’t imagine that one. Well with the washing machine I can move it to the side and she is able to squeeze right through. The dryer was a totally different story. Once I moved it out a bit she was able to have enough room to jump up on it and head for safety. Although in the midst of the rescue the bottom hose popped out and my attempts to fix it were somewhat fruitless. It did get fixed though. — Cat Galaxy- The Internet radio station for cats.
