There is a very nice place with a wonderful view, called Hummingbird. The service gives new difinition to "Island Time", but its nice. Soufriere has not been touristed much until recent years.  There is a relstively new hotel on top of mountain, one around the corner at the base of the pitons and the older, but very nice dive operation and hotelat Anse Chastenet around the North point of the bay.  all good places.

Hiya, Soufriere is a bit remote from Castries and Vileux Fort the two major towns) but has a charm all of its own.  There is not a lot to do there.  The resort is v. good but expensive with great views of the Pitons.  We had lunch there 2 weeks ago, The other location is  Jalousie Plantation which has been closed for 10+ months and will be reponed as the Jalousie Hilton later this year. It’s a bit remote (Castries 2 hours by road).  The best resort hotels are on the north of the island. Mail me if you want further info and we are out there 3 to 4 times a year. A great place to stay in Soufriere and ridiculously inexpensive, is the 5 room hotel called The Still On the Beach, next to the Hummingbird at the end of the beach on the Bay, the north end. There are four one room studios, with fridge and kettle, toaster for $65 a night and a one bedroom apt with full size kitchen/LR for $85 US and 2 channel TV. The view is spectacular esp from Studio 1, 2, and apt 3. Then there are trees in the way from the balcony. Very quiet place. Pretty property, but small. Good snorkeling along the mountain. Write for more info if you are interested.
