Question:
My dad is having furnace/central air unit installed. (Duct work is intact) He has gotten bids utilizing the following three manufacturers: Trane, Rheem, and Carrier. All are 60,000 BTU furnace and 2 ton 12 SEER . . .Anyone who has positive or negative things to say about new units of those (or any others!) brands, please reply so we can sort through this morass. There is no Consumers Report for this type of thing, is there?! Primarily concernced with durability and efficiency of course Thanks for the input, and any contractor who has worked with different brands especially welcome. Ed in Pittsburgh
Response:
I feel your pain! I’m replacing a heat pump with a gas furnace (and probably replacing the AC too). Two contractors so far have given me completely contradictory approaches to routing the exhaust ducting, and the for the exact same model condenser (outside) unit, one price is almost double the other! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > My dad is having furnace/central air unit installed.
