Question:
Depending upon local law, you may not have to remove the underground tank. Many places let you "abandon" the tank – filling it with sand or gravel after inspection and cleaning, then removing the fill neck and vent. Digging out an old tank is a risky proposition. Why open yourself up to the possibility of an expensive contamination removal if your local law lets you leave it in place? Talk to your oil dealer and ask them about your alternatives…. -=>epm<=- In matters of truth and justice, there is no difference between large and small problems, for issues concerning the treatment of people are all the same. – Albert Einstein

Around here, Trane, Carrier, or Bryant are very good. I know several former Lennox owners that didn’t like Lennox. — John Shear Chippewa Falls, WI

Hi, Anyone experienced removing a buried home oil tank? What brand is a good gas furnace? Using propane. House is 2000 sq ft in Canada. Thanks Kim

My mother in law had to replace an old (50+ years) oil tank a few years back. She had the misfortune of filling it one day and the next day the tank was dry! Long story short, she hired a grading contractor to do the work and it was done in a few hours. I am not sure what the charge was, never discuss that with her, even when I do the work! As far as I am concerned, all mommy in laws receive free work! As far as furnace brands, I would highly recommend a Trane high efficiency sealed combustion unit. I have installed 4 of these in my last 4 houses and I LOVE them! Have had no problems with any of them and the next furnace I buy will again be a Trane! Like they say, NOTHING beats a TRANE!!!
