Question:
Remember the Hush Puppy dog? It looks like a beagle, but it’s long, short to the ground with extremely long ears. I can’t believe you don’t know what a Basset Hound looks like!!! Oh dear! Here, try this too: http://www.onthe.net.au/~flippy/bugsy.html It’s the web page that Flippy made for me of my crew. (Felix isn’t on there yet). But Happy the Basset is on there as a pup. And here is Sweet Ginny’s photo of my full grown Happy on her page. (f you don’t get it, I’ve also sent it to you). http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=31793&a=820939&p=12806098 — Bugsy…. Aw shucks. When you said for 6 months I presumed you were stocking up for the next 6 months. I don’t remember what a basset looks like, but if it’s how I picture, it’s a small dog. A lab would need some freedom I suppose and a large yard. I saw my dad’s yard, it’s huge! He got stuck sort of with a corner property so it’s not entirely square, but the space makes it worth it! I’m just glad he dind’t put in a pool, or else I’d really be jealous

Congratulations! Enjoy that puppy while you can. I am sure she will go to a good home, but right now she needs the extra special attention you can give her. You are both so fortunate. Thanks, Juliette. I need to get pictures of Felix developed and have Flippy add him to my gang! — Bugsy…. "You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses." ~Tom Wilson

Oh, those pictures are just adorable! I think my favorite is Sade with the pillow stuffing.

How wonderful of you to help Millie. She is so lucky to have you and your network of helpers to save her. Congratulations! Enjoy that puppy while you can. I am sure she will go to a good home, but right now she needs the extra special attention you can give her. You are both so fortunate. Unfortunately, no. One big Basset Hound and four kitties are enough for me (altho’ I probably could squeeze in another kitty if "that perfect critter finds me… ~don’t ever let Doc know this!). Besides, I don’t have a fenced in yard (we can’t because of zoning in our community). Happy the Basset has a lead that runs from our back door to a big ole’ oak tree at the end of our property in the woods. This sweet Millie Labrador needs a fenced in back yard, or somewhere where she can be free to run. Happy is a great dog, but he does have a nasty little habit when he plays with bigger dogs… he goes for their legs and bites… hard). Maybe it’s a complex that he (and all Bassets) have because they feel cheated with those little stumpy legs!?
Basically she deserves more than I can give her… but after looking into those dark puppy eyes and getting puppy kisses, it sure makes it tough to say no!! (I’m hoping the teacher that lost her old lab gets Millie)! — Bugsy…. "You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses." ~Tom Wilson
Does this mean you’ll have two doggies now?
My dad has a black lab… the lab is afraid of the cats, the cats boss her around, in her own house! Dad has great respect and admiration for Pounce, Pounce sure told that dog who was boss! Pounce also made the dog move whenever he wanted to be where the dog was, and told the dog to be quiet when the dog was getting fussy about sharing dad’s bed with Pounce. That was a priceless story, I wish I had been there. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Well, we did it! Well, we did it! Doc and I went to Wal-Mart today and purchased everything little Millennium will be needing for the next 6 months. I bought a beautiful maroon, teal and purple color for her with a braided maroon leash to match. (She’ll be a fashionable girl!) And, on the way out, they have one of those dog tag machines, so I had a purple heart shaped tag made that says "Millie" on it. We then drove to the clinic where she was being held. Waiting in the examining room seemed endless!!! And then, lo and behold, in walks the tech carrying Millie. She’s absolutely gorgeous. She’s about 20 lbs. already. Her right hip has an 8 inch permanent rod in it, and her front right "elbow" has a soft cast on it due to a sprain. She has some abrasions and scrapes on her all over, but her coat his shiny, and her tail wagged non stop between her kisses to me! (Yes, I was on the floor with her the whole time). We delivered Millie to her "foster home" afterwards, and she was just tickled pink to crawl into a big kennel full of old quilts. The door was open, so she was able to come out if she wanted. (She can stand, but it’s obvious she still is in quite a bit of pain.) I’ve been named her nanny. I’ll be taking her for her check ups to the vet for a bit while she heals. Robin, the foster mom, has already heard of a few people who are looking for puppies. One is a teacher who lost her black lab to old age, and she’s ready to adopt a new one. So, Millie is a completed project. I took pictures and will post them when I get them. Bugsy…. (doing the happy dance).
