I am wondering if this is a serious post….? Or deliberately winding us up… No name… no email address… and everything that many people here argue strongly against… anyone? Yes, This was and is a serious post, I choose to block my addrerss as I do not wish to be spammed. I wish you all to know that we picked up our little Cuddles up yesterday from the Vet, and are now ready to kick ourselves in the ASS for what we have done to our little friend. The vet assured us that Cuddles was not going to be in pain, but it is very clear that he is not one bit in pleasure from this proceedure. Our poor cuddles can hardly walk, all four of his paws look like they were put through a blender then stitched up again. When Cuddles tries to stand at his food dish, he is hardly able to feed himself and has fallen over in front of his food several times. We thought it would be so great having the clawing problem taken care of, but I would rather have my furnature tore up than have to listen to one more minute of our poor little Cuddles Moan and carry on from this awfull operation.

You can still include your address in the sig line, but type it out (see below) – that way people will not think you are a troll and the spambots can’t read it. I’m not answering the rest of your post, except to say that declawing is illegal on grounds of cruelty in my country and I fully and wholeheartedly support this reason. Why post here after you have done the deed – why not ask or look for advice first? That is why you appeared to be trolling – a fait accompli designed to anger people with one of the most contorversial thread topics here. If you’re very lucky someone here might offer advice on helping a cat in great discomfort, but I think the advice you’ll get will be a lot less civil. Deb. x-no-archive: yes I had cats all my life and never, never would I DECLAW, just a little patience and few logs around and I also have a real tree trunk in the basement from floor to ceiling, they have a good time at it. My cats do go out in the summer, they DO NOT SCRATCH THE FURNITURE. All you had to do is to trim 1/4" now and then with clippers. If I was a vet this is an operation I would never do! Well, we took our Cuddles to the vet this morning to have him neutered and have all four of his paws declawed. It sure will be nice to have a cat that can no longer tear up the house. We are just a bit concerned about having him go through all of that at one time, seems like it might hurt a little when he trys to use his litter box. We also felt bad after leaving him at the vets, if only you could of heard our little Cuddles crying when the man carried him away and put him in that cold steel jail cage, Oh well, We are sure it will be worth it in the end.
Response:
Yes, the litter box can be a problem for a newly declawed cat. Be sure to use shredded newspaper as litter box filler until he recovers from the declaw surgery. The vet will probably tell you that.
