Why does the cat like this?

Question:

Sounds like a form of sexual gratification. Cat sexuality can get rough. However, I only know this through voyeurism.  ;) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Some months back I posted some queries as a dog lover who is cat-sitting a > 9-year old "fixed" male while his family is out of the country for a while. > He’s really warmed up to the whole family; but especially to me, who he > follows around the house and sits at the foot of my bed even when I’m not > home. Response:

My cat adores being slapped hard on the butt. He does all those things: digging his claws in, etc. He also is fixed, but I think kitties have some sort of "special spot" back there near the tail.

Some months back I posted some queries as a dog lover who is cat-sitting a 9-year old "fixed" male while his family is out of the country for a while. He’s really warmed up to the whole family; but especially to me, who he follows around the house and sits at the foot of my bed even when I’m not home. This weekend, we had a long, loud New Year’s party, and he spent the entire time sitting alone in the room on my bed (not where his litter box and food/water are). Recently his real family came back for a quick visit while travelling, and one of the owners said "You wanna see something he _really_ likes? Watch this". He then started slapping the cat on the thigh, about 2 times a second, moderately hard. The cat responds by:         1. Stretching, digging his front nails in the carpet while thrusting his rear end high in the air,         2. Lying down on his favored side, as he does when being stroked,         3. Arching his back and digging his nails in the carpet again while lying on the side and, dragging himself in small circles around the floor (head toward feet) for as long as he is slapped. The harder you slap him, the more he seems to like it. What primal urge have we tapped into here? [heheh]

Yikes!  Sounds like my (female) cat when she was in full-blown heat!!! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Some months back I posted some queries as a dog lover who is cat- sitting a > 9-year old "fixed" male while his family is out of the country for a while. > He’s really warmed up to the whole family; but especially to me, who he > follows around the house and sits at the foot of my bed even when I’m not > home.
