I also posted this in the home repair NG, but thought that some of you may have info for me too. I have 4 dogs (all adults) and have wall-to-wall carpeting. We are considering replacing it with either Mexican tile or Pergo. Does anyone with dogs have any experience with Pergo flooring as far as its scratch resistance? Our dogs don’t "dig" inside the house, but they do run around and play alot and I don’t know how this flooring will hold up to their claws. I installed 900 sq feet of Pergo 2 months ago. I’m very happy with it’s scratch-proofness and dirt resistance. Hairballs clean up easily (bleh…)! The only thing that I don’t like is with such a large, open area, the dogs had a lot of room to play. The Pergo is much NOISIER than the oak floors I have on the upper level, and SLIPPERY. the only down side I have seen is some of the older dogs are finding my new Solarian floor too slippery. dogs I did not know were arthritic when I had wall to wall are showing it now 
despite the large area rugs (I chose the solarian as a rug replacement as a better option for an allergic person) that floor has stood up well so I would guess the pergo would too Nancy I also posted this in the home repair NG, but thought that some of you may have info for me too.
