urinating problem

Question:

> Let the area dry completely – >therefore, make sure that emale cat can still detect her urine, she will continue to >urinate on that same spot.

Yikes I pressed the insert button instead of the delete button on this wonderful sentence *LMAO* I meant make sure the area is completely dry before letting the cats tramp over it  and make sure it is super clean because if the female can still detect her urine scent she will continue to urinate over the same spot sorry about that half-baked sentence in the first post *hehe* Cheerio! — elsa ^..^ http://arnhem.telekabel.nl/~c35065/louie.htm for the scoop on pee and poop: http://poop-pee.homepage.com/ show your cats off to the rest of the world at: http://arnhem.telekabel.nl/~c35065/cattitude.htm

What about a third box in a different area of the house. She may not like that area. Perhaps she is urinating around the front of the box because she is trying to mark her territory over one box?  - just a theory. What type of flooring do you have? Is it carpeted or tiled, wooden, vinyl? If it is carpet, you really have to ensure that it has been cleaned properly – I mean repeat the cleaning so many times until you are really sure that the scent of the urine is gone. To do this well, use a bucket of warm water and a good enzymatic cleaning product -use a sponge or cloth to repeatedly go over the area dabbing firmly – change the at least twice so as not to rub the dirty water back into the carpet. Let the area dry completely – therefore, make sure that emale cat can still detect her urine, she will continue to urinate on that same spot. Apart from the through cleaning, you could try a few other things.  - clean the area well, let it dry, then cover that area just outside the litterboxes with an old piece of carpet or buy a sheet of heavy duty protective plastic.  - clean the affected area well, let it dry, then spray a tiny bit of Feliway – this product helps to reduce the incidence of territorial marking. for more info about feliway see: http://poop-pee.homepage.com/#14  - follow Donnamayj’s advice and get a third litterbox – although I believe that the problem can be solved without a third one.
