Have you never heard of "fifteen minutes of fame". Everyone is out to get theirs… it’s like when someone is murdered and the media searches out their cousin’s former babysitter’s sister’s long lost aunt who caught a glimpse of the victim once at a party to expound on the virtues of said victim. Haven’t you ever watched Jerry Springer? People will crawl out of the woodwork and claim *anything* to get their face on the national news. And if you "gotta believe" them because they happen to be state troopers, let’s you and I have a little discussion about policemen, shall we? In many cases, especially living in New Orleans for the last few years, they’re the *last* people I would believe. Amber

Is that press the widely acclaimed "liberal" media? >Oh, yes? And this is why you were so quick to point out that Clinton cheats on >his wife when there is absolutely no proof to support this allegation? And why >did you believe this? Because the press told you to…
Is that press the widely acclaimed "conservative" media? Maybe you folks should swap newspapers. You might get along better. Robert C.

Nope. But I gotta believe the state troopers who Clington used as pimps. Like JFK, it may be years before ALL the dirt comes out on this guy. Then I’ll look you up and say "I told you so".

I haven’t read all the postings so whatever the above mentioned posting is titled obviously had no interest to me. That makes it all the worse and gives me a bigger reason not to stay. However, I’m commenting on folks who obviously are in the newsgroup because they have dogs (why else would they be there?) but are using the group as a political forum. I also subscribe to other newsgroups and they rarely have those problems. Sorry, I’ll go back to my books. Lois

Oh, yes? And this is why you were so quick to point out that Clinton cheats on his wife when there is absolutely no proof to support this allegation? And why did you believe this? Get a grip Lois. This is mild. Funny you should mention the President bashing and not the sick individual posting as an abused and molested child. As a veteran of 10+ newsgroups, I must also tell you to take any information you receive through these forums with a grain of salt. There is LOTS of misinformation and differing opinions circulated through this and other newsgroups. I think you’re correct. You’re probably better off reading a book.

I’m new to this group. We just got a puppy, a miniature schnauzer. As anyone who enters into a new group, especially being someone who hasn’t owned a dog since I was a kid, I was really looking forward to a forum to discuss my dog and traits that my breed might have, etc. Since I’m a new dog owner, as is our president, I checked out the Clinton postings. How sad that a newsgroup that should be discussing dogs is bashing the president. There is only one pets.dogs.breeds newsgroup; I didn’t enter into the pets.dogs.breeds.politics group by mistake. I’d love to stay and become a part of this but if what I’ve read is any indication of what I have in store by staying, perhaps I’ll go back to reading dog books and sharing my dog comments with co-workers. No, but it is a damned good publicity ploy. Poor old Socks just isn’t good enough PR, so the good ole boy got himself a dawg and another piece of apple pie… Now he’s parading the mutt in front of the cameras – maybe that will make up for the embarrassment he is causing us Democrats during his terms in office… Charlotte Creeley

I dunno, politics might belong on rec.pets.dogs. After all, most of the candidates in any given election are real dogs, and all we constiuents ever do about it is bitch, bitch, bitch. Saw the Pres walking Buddy on the WH lawn in front of the reporters on the Today show news this morning. He had the puppy sit and reached in his pocket for a treat! Sounds like the trainer has done a good job! (On the Pres, that is!!) Mary Alice

Aah…and we Republicans are the hatemongers eh? Who’s spouting the insults here? The difference between the two of us is that I can see BOTH sides of a story. I haven’t been brainwashed by the press like you have. I can find misdeeds which Republicans perpetrated also. Even though Ronald Reagan was my guy, I think he gave Ollie the shaft. Don’t know if it has been stated yet, but Clinton’s puppy, Buddy, has now come home. As of Sunday, he officially joined the Clintons in the White House. Myth 1: Buddy is not from a puppy mill, his breeder is Linda Renfro of Easton, Md. Myth 2: Buddy is not going to be sent away for months to be professionally trained. He was given two weeks of boarding school, and now "accepts a leash calmly" and is described as "precocious" by his trainer – he was in the trainer’s care for two weeks. Clinton is apparently undertaking quite a bit of puppy training himself: "daily Secret Service ‘movement logs’ which normally record quiet mornings for the president, have this week shown a flurry of odd-hour trips to the back lawn". Buddy sleeps in the master bedroom (of course) and also has a crate in the kitchen. He seems to be a well adjusted, well taken care of little guy. Well-socailized is a given. Jana (No, I voted for Bob Dole, but this Clinton-bashing is getting on my nerves)
