Question:
You cant force a cat to socialize of it does not want to We have four cats of ages from 14 years to 3 years ant eh youngest one Charlie is absolutely terrified when someome he does not know comes into the house He will always run and hide and then come out again when visitors have gone ON the other hand the youngest female and the smallest of all the cats will run to the door and growl at whoever enters and if she approves of them will then stay with them until they leaveAfter knowing my home carer for nearly 6 months of daily visits Charlie is now just beginning to say in the kitchen when she enters the door so eventually he will allow her to socialise but only when he is ready So I think what you need is a lot of patience

Do not worry, I have a Ragdoll and a Tabby, same thing, if they are in the house they can hear someone coming up the outside steps long before they ring the bell and they run away downstairs hiding, when they are outside no one can catch them and I do like this. In the evening the Tabby keeps watch by the patio door and if a dog is around she comes running to me with the hair standing up:-) She loves Max the Raccoon and so does the Ragdoll, they are loving cats and I just have to show them the brush and they roll on the floor for their daily grooming. ob. — **** Odette Brown ** I love Cats ***** *** La Belle Province ** Quebec ** CANADA *** *** http://www.igs.net/~rathey/odette1.htm ***

IME, some cats are just more shy than others. Two of the four of my cats always hid from company – either down in the basement, or in my bedroom, only coming out when the company either left or went to bed. OTOH – both of those two shy ones mellowed to some degree as they got older – once past 11 or 12, say. Cathy — "Decades gliding by like Indians, time is cheap." Paul Simon ("Ren
