I assume you mean St Martin, no e. You pretty much get what you pay for at Orient Beach. Do you want the most expensive hotel? Do you you want the hotel nearest the beach? Do you want a nice place 5-10 minutes walk to the beach, overlooking the bay? Do you want a no-clothing resort? There are LOTS of choices. Only the Mt Vernon would seem a possibly-poor choice to me. It may have a new name this year. [Too big, lots of climbing, more waves]

We have stayed for the past 2 Januarys at La Plantation on Orient Beach and are returning later this month. It has comfortable rooms (studio or larger) with a small kitchenette, a lovely restaurant on premises, a pool and an exercise room. Another echo recommending the Plantation. I stayed there last month for about the 5th time. Each room has a 10 x 30 ft porch overlooking the ocean. Note that it’s about a 5 to 10 minute, mostly level, walk to the beach. http://www.la-plantation.com [click on the flag of choice].
