Question:
Ah well, I haven,t got a sewing room. I *have* got birds in the kitchen. But then I haven’t got a husband so I can do as I please (smirk).
Response:
Don’t you love to pretend "what if"? A bunch of security guards from Sandia Labs won the powerball some time back. – 2 months or more. It was huge and they were each getting 5-6 mil each. No one quit his/her job, thankfully. I spoke to one of the guys, his father died and left him an old sleazy biker bar and he is running that in addition to having his job. He said that they all have Q-clearances, which helped, but the lottery people still are doing background checks on them and Lord knows what else. No one has seen a dime of the winnings. They will, eventually, and they were told it might be another six months. I had no idea it took that long. Heck, for that money, I could wait six years! Remember we talked about this awhile back? I told everyone that I would put enough money away for a good retirement and then share the rest. We were going to have a ‘family (re)union’ of all the rpb folks, at my expense, on Wheeler’s three acres of newly mown grass. With all our birds. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Yeah I keep hearing that, problem is the wife buys all the tickets and she > wants to travel. Bob: I’m with Debbie on this one. The kitchen is good. I have the two budgies and the quaker in the kitchen, because I spend a lot of time there. I enjoy the budgies’ chatter and Kato *has* to be in the kitchen because it’s the only room in the house farthest away from the neighbours’ place. Also, I’m careful with cooking, etc. In your case, though, it’s because you’ve run out of space. I’m sure your wife would understand the dilemma you’re in and be amenable to the idea. After all, as you said, it’s a temporary set-up (it is, isn’t it, Bob?!?!). In any event, I think you better start thinking of having a barn-building party in the spring …. do you have room on your property for another barn or some sort of large shed in case you find yourself up to your neck in baby birds again soon?! ; ) — Linda P.S. If Mrs. Wheeler lets you do this, do you have some great ideas for Valentine Day’s gifts? LOL …… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> am I going to get killed? The nursery is fuller than full. You are welcome, Bob;)) Seriously, if there is room in the kitchen, why not put the birds there? I figure it is best to make caring for the animals as easy and convenient as possible. I am trying to get my husband to build a covered walk between the house and the barns. (Haha) It is so darned cold right now. — Debbie, Dusty(CAG) and Casperella(U2) http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=66243
Response:
Debbie as right as you truly are, I will most likely add a large brooder to the nursery, I can section that one off and place three small clutches in it. If I were to really set them up in "her" kitchen I would be living in the barn. I have thought a bit about taking her sewing room over though, heck she don’t use it but every now and then when she needs to get away from the birds. I am really hoping that I can get the back rooms built in the barn this summer. Then I can convert one of the smaller breeder rooms into a real nursery for the weaned babies. Plan to set it up as an office as well so then I will have some place to hide out. Still have to have the nursery in the house but the babies who are transitioning will sort of have a place of their own. Gets difficult to bring the little monsters out to play when the house birds are out, the little ones want to try their wings and roam all over, scares the hell out of Peachboy and gets the others a bit rattled. Ummm, lady do you realize that it takes 4-12 weeks to wean some of these folks? That amount of "ordering in" would buy be a room addition. By the way, these days I do most of the cooking anyways. God, ain’t getting into that one, no way no how. Response:
I think you should squeeze a couple more into the bird room…unless you talk to her and she agrees. Especially since ya’ll seem to have already made the decision on where they would be kept! I would be *hurt* if my husband had decide on something…then I came home to find he had done it anyway. Talk to her…tell her what the problem is and that it will only be for a short time. Or better yet…do what women do…tell her you are running out of room and ask if she can help you find a spot to keep them till may. This way its her ideal! hee hee! If she can’t give you the answer you want then suggest that maybe you need to have another room put on the house since there no enough room! You can’t go wrong this route! Grant you its a little evil but it works! My husband and I BOTH do this to each other…and we know it and joke about it! Good luck! Lorraine
