Help with cat door (not really the right newsgroup)

Question:

The only thing I could suggest as far as a door is concerned would be to build a screen door using heavy guage cloth wire. There is no way to train the cat to stay out of the room.  I think that you might consider finding them loving homes where they will have access to people. I just got married and my wife has two cats that she wants to keep out of the living room. The house is a rental so doing major renovation work is not an option. What we want to do is somehow divide the hallway which is 30" wide by 10′ tall (yeah, odd size) somehow with a door that we can open and close as needed. What I’d like to find is a pet divider (like those used for babies) that is designed for cats.  I’ve found several for dogs.  Is there a beast? On  another note, what is a good way to teach a cat to stay out of rooms when people aren’t around?  I don’t really want to lock them in the spare bathroom just so they can get to the litter box. -Glenn

I’ve used two baby gates one on top of the other to separate cats when I was away from home…… not very convenient I’m afraid. >On  another note, what is a good way to teach a cat to stay out of rooms when people aren’t around?  I don’t really want to lock them in the spare bathroom just so they can get to the litter box. >-Glenn
