Question:
My Rottie Gretchen has gone with me to the tack shop a couple of times. Horse people tend to be dog people, so there’s never any problem bringing her with me. We’ve also gone to the Rolex 3-Day Event at the Kentucky Horse Park. Dogs are permitted, and they are EVERYWHERE. There’s also an agility competition, so if you get tired of watching the horses you can go watch the dogs. I highly recommend it. In December Gretchen came to help pick out the Christmas tree and all of the guys working at the nursery came to see the "awesome" Rottweiler. Audrey

Hmmm. . .my family may be trading in our old van soon, so maybe Gretchen should come along. After all, we can’t go and buy a new car without making sure it matches her (or at least hides the massive amounts that she sheds). Audrey

I’m used to seeing dogs in cars, but I sure did a double take at the driver who had her cockatiel sitting on her shoulder. actually, if Tiffany’s salespeople are the same as when I visited (OK, this was like 25 years ago) they treat you with elegant courtesy even if you’re just coming in to look or to buy something "inexpensive" (relatively speaking). It wouldn’t surprise me that their good manners would extend to dogs Emily (not ~Emily) > Also, Tiffany allows dogs — haven’t been there yet, but I’m > going to. Lowes has a policy specifically AGAINST critters in store….as we were told when we went last week with 2 of the Babes (sadly our Eagle has been absorbed by Lowes) – SnoLine / Schneegrenze Brandy Burton-Tarantino – – German Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers - -http://www.premier1.net/~snoline & http://www.premier1.net/~visions-

Probably depends on where you are at. California, for example, is very dog-unfriendly when it comes to stores (probably because litigation is a major hobby in our state), and our San Diego Home Depots are posted "no pets". However, I have noticed that some don’t enforce it and some do. We have one local bookstore that I noticed has posted a sign saying "Coffee and dogs welcome". It’s a rarity! How about a floor length "tent" dress? I might try this out. <G> Gwen

Liquor stores and hardware stores are usually okay for us. We’ve also been to J.Crew, Ann Taylor, and Country Road (not to shop — just to say hello in the a.m. when the staff isn’t busy). Also, Tiffany allows dogs — haven’t been there yet, but I’m going to. Again, not to shop, just to say I did it. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet’s Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet – Free!

Mine had the best time at Colonial Williamsburg. We couldn’t go into the restaurants or some of the houses, but we did a fine bit of shopping, ate at the street venders, rode on the bus, watched some movies, toured gardens. The squirrels there aren’t used to dogs so they would come really close to them. Dogs loved it. A friend took her dog to a fancy restaurant on the pier in San Fransisco. She just popped Kel into her Sherpa bag, carried her in and sat the bag at her feet. Nobody knew kel was there. Sherry & the zoo

My guess is that if you looked like you were going to spend some real money there they’d let you in with a pet gorilla. av

Really? I wonder if the "Book People" would let my dog in? Micheal’s I would have never thought this, but I am certainly brave enough to try it. Sounds like I finally have a real shopping buddy that I enjoy being with.:-) Gwen

My dog doesn’t urinate on the walls and things at his home why would he commence to doing this at a store? It just isn’t something my GSD would think of doing. > Nancy > general for pets in stores where allowed but not if owned by the clueless > majority

So I have heard about Europe. As in all coffee shops, lots of resturants, all trains etc. I wish we could adopt some of these policies. Gwen

Yes, I have forgotten about "BlockBuster" Video. I used to take my sun conure and cockatoo all the time. Everyone loved them. I have to believe that dogs would be fine as well. Unfortunately I rarely go to video stores anymore. Gwen
