Online mortgage experiences? (E-loan, Quicken, Altus etc)

Question:

Hi – A recent Smart Money magazine touted E-loan as a good thing, able to save one real money. However, I don’t know of anyone who has ever used one of these online services (Quicken and Altus are others I know about). Since the screw-up potential here is so large, I am looking for people who have had, or at least know actual people who have, had positive experiences with an online mortgage broker. Anyone? Brian

A co-worker of mine used e-loan for refinancing and did NOT have a positive experience.  I recall he had many delays delays, had trouble ever getting through to a real person. Don’t know any more details.

Response:

I am currently getting a loan from mortgagebot.com.  It’s been a very easy and financially positive experience.  I’m not only getting a lower interest rate but also saving $500-$1200 in loan fees.  You should also check www.hsh.com/ – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Hi – > A recent Smart Money magazine touted E-loan as a good thing, able to save one > real money.
